ARTHUR B. NOVAES Jr., DDS, MSc, DSc
SYNOPSIS:
Esthetics related to the natural dentition, prosthetics or implant dentistry has been the focus of attention for quite some time. For the natural dentition, the subepithelial connective tissue graft has been successful; however, the technique has certain limitations such as a second surgical site, limited amount of donor tissue, and increased morbidity. The acellular dermal matrix allograft can be a reliable substitute for the connective tissue graft. Comparisons of the results, the best surgical approach, factors that influence the outcome, and the healing process will be discussed.
