GERHARD IGLHAUT, DDS, Dr.med.dent.

Current Concepts in Esthetic Implantology

Minimally invasive surgical procedures in implant therapy are increasingly being used to preserve hard and soft tissue and create a natural appearance.  Techniques will be presented for atraumatic wound closure after immediate implant placement, ridge augmentation of severe alveolar deficiencies, a simple ultrasonic fixation of resorbable membranes or plates with higher stability than screw fixation using a new biodegradable material, and a procedure of extensive bone augmentation that could replace traumatic bone block grafting and rigid graft fixation.

The following innovative techniques and instruments have been developed over 25 years of private practice:

Atraumatic technique of flap preparation;
Special instruments used in minimally invasive surgical procedures;
Harvesting of combined soft tissue grafts;
Flapless wound closure after immediate implant placement;
Minimally invasive horizontal and vertical boneaugmentation by rigid fixation of biodegradable plates and/or membranes.
