PAUL A. FUGAZZOTTO, DDS
The Roles Of Periodontal And Implant Therapies In Comprehensive Care
Regenerative and implant therapies afford unmatched opportunities for providing previously inconceivable treatment outcomes. To maximize the benefits of such therapies, it is imperative for the clinician to recognize the indications, contraindications, and limitations of various treatment approaches, as well as how best to incorporate these therapies into existing armamentaria.
Designed to underscore the interrelationships among the various specialties and the restorative dentist, this presentation will provide a framework in which to carry out differential diagnosis and comprehensive treatment planning, periodontal restorative interrelationships, and various esthetic procedures. Diagnostic and technical prerequisites for maximization of regenerative treatment outcomes will be reviewed. Treatment algorithms will be detailed to aid in decision-making when delivering therapy in the esthetic zone in the presence of different biotypes and varying degrees of site compromise.
Techniques for implant placement at time of maxillary and mandibular molar extraction; the influence of implant dimensions (length/width) on long-term implant survival; and the roles of guided bone regeneration, sinus augmentation, and implant therapy in the treatment of a variety of patients will be discussed in detail.
BIOGRAPHIC SKETCH: Paul Fugazzotto received his DDS from New York University in 1979 and a certificate in advanced graduate studies in Periodontology from Boston University in 1981. Since that time, Dr. Fugazzotto has maintained a private practice in Milton, Massachusetts, limited to periodontics and implant therapy.
Dr. Fugazzotto has authored or coauthored over eighty articles in refereed scientific journals, as well as authoring the monograph Guided Tissue Regeneration: Maximizing Clinical Results, and three textbooks titled Preparation of the Periodontium for Restorative Dentistry, Decision Making in Regenerative and Implant Therapies, and Periodontal Restorative Interrelationships: Maximizing Treatment Outcomes.
Dr. Fugazzotto is a fellow of the International Team of Implantology and an active member of many organizations. He is senior editor of Implant Realities and the U.S. ITI Study Club coordinator.
